Dragon1 defines Enterprise Architecture as the Total Concept of an Enterprise Structure. Every concept has a way of working and produces a result. We call this the principle of the concept.
A structure is defined as the arrangement of and the relationships between the elements of a complex system.
With these definitions the architect is set on a journey to find the right and proven concepts that are needed and required by the stakeholders because of the enterprise strategy.
Once found and approved, the architect needs to design the application of the concept onto the organization in detail, so the principle of the concept will really work.
The architect creates diagrams showing the new and changed elements that have to be implemented in the organization.
