In the first screen, click the Login button to enter the application.

You now have entered the your Dragon1 workplace. Tihs is your starting point for doing every activity.

In the menu at the left of the screen, click Visual Designer to startup the application.

Click the Process Name field to name your new process.

Click Create to generate the Discovery Map.

The Discovery Map is a mind-mapping exercise that is like using sticky notes on a wall. Use it to brainstorm the milestones and activities in your process. In Dragon1, milestones are periods of time and activities are individual human and system tasks.

In the Process Outline section, click Milestone 1 to update the name.

Notice that the outline and the diagram are automatically synchronized.

In the Process Outline section, click Milestone 2 to rename it.

You can add any number of milestones to organize your activities.

In the Process Outline section, click Activity to update the name.

In the Process Outline section, click under the Submit Claim activity to add an activity.

In the Process Outline section, click under the Review milestone twice to add two activities.

Each item in Dragon1 has relevant metadata that can be stored, versioned, and shared. This rich authoring capability results in a single source of truth for your architecture documentation: no more disparate diagrams and documents.

In the Submit Claim window, review the details to document, noting that the window contains more details than are shown in this demo. You can also add fields that are specific to your organization.

Click the Participant field to name the role of the user that submits the claim.

Notice that the glossary terms that begin with Customer are displayed for ease of selection.

Notice the other tabs in the Submit Claim window: Problems, Policies, Documentation, Attachments, and Comments. If you want to learn more about the tabs, you can sign up for a free trial and complete a tutorial about Dragon1.

Close the Submit Claim window.

Generate the diagram:

a. In the upper-left corner, click Discovery Map and click Process Diagram.

b. Click Create Diagram to have the system automatically generate a diagram from your discovery map.

Because the diagram is generated from the Participant documentation that was entered, the Submit Claim activity is placed in a horizontal Customer swimlane. You also want to move the Attach Documents activity to the Customer swimlane.

Drag the Attach Documents activity to the highlighted area under Submit Claim.

Create a swimlane by clicking between the two swimlane headers on the left.

Click the Participant 1 placeholder to update it. You are ready to drag the other two activities to the Reviewer swimlane.

Drag the Review Claim activity to the highlighted area in the second swimlane.

Drag the Notify Customer activity to the highlighted area.

The base diagram is ready.

Click the line between the Submit Claim and Attach Documents activities.

In the palette, click the diamond to insert a new decision gateway.

For good documentation, update the name of the decision gateway by clicking the placeholder.

If documents are needed, you want to follow the Yes path to the Attach Documents activity. Otherwise, you want to follow the No path to Review Claim activity.

Drag the End event under the decision gateway to the Review Claim activity in the Reviewer swimlane.

In the upper-right corner, click Snapshots.

Versioning is built in to Dragon1 so that you can take a snapshot of all the artifacts and metadata in a diagram.

Click the Snapshot name placeholder to update it and create a V1 snapshot.

In the upper-left corner, click the arrow next to Submit Claim to open the process menu.

Click Export Process.

You can export all processes in industry-standard BPMN 2.0 and in other formats.

Close the Export Process Data window.
