Video Import Data

This video titled 'Import Data' offers a comprehensive guide on importing application data into the Dragon1 platform using the Import Application. This process is crucial for users who wish to manage and visualize their enterprise architecture data efficiently.

Import Methods

Dragon1 provides three primary methods for data import:

  • Import Application: The main tool for importing data.
  • Architecture Repository: Allows quick CSV imports.
  • Visual Designer: Facilitates data import within the design environment.

Steps to Import CSV Data

  1. Log in to the Dragon1 platform.
  2. Navigate to the 'Import' section via the left-side menu.
  3. Click the 'CSV' button in the header or directly access the Import CSV application.
  4. Upload your .csv file by clicking the 'Upload .csv file' button.
  5. Select the appropriate Cabinet, Dossier, and Folder where the data should reside.
  6. Ensure your CSV file contains the necessary headers: uniqueid, name, type, class, description, and action.
  7. Click the 'Import' button to initiate the data import process.

Best Practices

  • Always include a uniqueid to track and update data efficiently.
  • Use the action column to specify operations: Insert, Update, or Delete.
  • Avoid using reserved column names like ref or id.
  • Ensure that user-defined fields (UDFs) have alphanumeric names without spaces or special characters.
  • Save Excel files as CSV before importing.
